Featured Blogger

Because I am a cloth diaper addict, I have joined my fellow cloth diapering mama's and began submitting articles for The Cloth Diaper Whisperer - a cloth diapering blog.
I wrote an article on nursing in public- and actually made it! :)
Check it out:
Nursing in Public: A Positive Experience

Im sitting here nursing my sweet baby girl, who is five weeks already. She is doing so good and is growing fast! I bet she is a good 10 1/2 to 11 lbs. :) While she is growing, I'm still trying to shrink, and I have a long way to go. I've heard that it gets harder to lose the weight after each one, guess it makes sense then that the pounds arent just falling off me like they did the past two times. I will lose it, im determined.

We got our car back from the body shop today, our bumper is shiney and like new! They even fixed something that was there before the wreck, along with vacuuming and washing it, blessing! I love my car.

Husband still has yet to transfer to his new job, they interviewed for his spot today so we're praying they hire someone soon so he can get out of there.

I have just been doing the mommy thing. Playing with big and middle, snuggling little. Big has been so crazy lately! Today, for the first time, she tried to hide her toys from me instead of picking them up. I guess she didnt think I was going to check, crazy kid. Middle just follows her sister around and just got fully over a virus this past weekend. Little is just nursing, sleeping, using the potty, and repeating it still. I have come to love and obsess over her cloth diapers and sneak a new diaper purchase into our budget as many times possible! Even my husband likes them! :)

and now.. i must sleep :-)

Fluff

Today I got to borrow a friends baby and try out some of my diapers on her!

FuzziBunz one size! We had two washcloths folded thick right in front in case she peed (I don't have the detergent to wash my diapers yet) So there is some added bulk in the front.

I really liked it! We got a good fit on her, and her fluffy booty is so cute!

This was the flip os. It was allot bigger than the FB on her, and not as many adjustment options. So on the smallest setting, it still went way up past her belly button and the insert is so thick it looked like it may be uncomfortable for a smaller baby. I'd order another FB OS before ordering another Flip.

And while I'm at it, "theclothdiaperwhisperer"(one of my new favorite diaper blogs!) is giving away three FB os diapers! It's so easy to enter! Check out the site here.

WOW, I am tired! It feels like allot has been going on around here, but it really hasn't.
I guess you can say our weekend was busy. We took the girls to Island Playground for their birthdays {yes...their birthdays have come & gone...don't ask}. We stopped by Home Depot, I went grocery shopping, we attended church, the girls had a surprise birthday party on Friday from my mother in law, and a birthday party sunday evening from my parents. I'm TIRED of birthdays! Between the two of them, they have had FIVE birthday celebrations, four of them in one week!
Today I took Adison to the doctor for her two year check up. Of course, they were not happy at all that she had not been to the doctor in a year (since her first birthday check-up) & we're even more "upset" that she was behind on 6 vaccines. Did I mention they wanted to give her all six today? Ha, I told them she could have four. We ended up getting her the four "most important" or as her doctor said "lets pick the four severe sickness & death causing diseases that we still see today to vaccinate her with". Give me a break, in a way, I didn't want to get any of them for her, but after days of sitting on it, we felt the most peace with going ahead and getting her up to date. I still feel good about the decision, just wish they didn't push it so much at the doctors & make unnecessary comments.  I then proceeded to talk with him about Adison's "problems" with sleeping/falling asleep/leaving me etc. and he said that it's because I took away her boundaries when I took her out of a crib, and that she needs to be in a crib until three years old according to the american academy of pediatrics or whatever. At this point, I wanted to just roll my eyes & leave. Three years old in a crib? Give me a break, she was climbing out of her crib at 13 months! It has nothing to do with her sleeping in a regular bed, she has been in a regular bed for a long time now, and has never had a problem.  I know that it's separation anxiety, because like I told him...she wont go into nursery anymore, in a room that I'm not in, or get too far away from me anywhere. But he failed to listen to me, and kept saying that it leads back to the crib & that he has a hand out for me on it...which he never did give me. I am thinking of switching doctors, not because this one seems to have lost his mind since the last time we've seen him, but also because I just didn't feel heard, he was in such a rush and was FLYING through his check list that he couldn't take the time to listen to my concerns. :/
On another note, Riley has been an awesome big sister these past couple days, and an awesome mommies helper. When Adison slept over at my moms, Riley woke up and said she was ready for her sister to come home because she missed her. Of course that made me smile! I took the girls to play at Burger King today, and as usual, Adison got "stuck" at the top of the play place. A large, grown man went up and got her down, and Riley said "Mom! That man saved my sister! He is a real hero!" LOL, where does she get these things from?
What have we done this past week to prepare for our little sister? Not a ton. Bought more hangers? Finally found a one piece pacifier that is sold in an actual store around here! Purchased a few more cloth diapers...and ate! That's about it. I'm 30 weeks along, and this little girl is getting big. I'm getting to the "uncomfortable" stage, where her kicks and moves are beginning to be a little painful, and sleeping & walking(long amounts of time) are getting a little harder. I'm going to be patient & enjoy this little one inside me.
Hubbies job is still going good. He is still getting a good amount of OT, and they expect to pick up even more as summer hits. He is one of the top tech's right now, I'm pretty proud of him :)
I guess i'll leave you at that...! And with some pictures to enjoy of course...

Accomplished.

After a very long week of staying up late researching very important things for this little girl's arrival (ya know, cloth diapers, carriers, vaccines...), I made BIG decision's last night!

Carriers- For now, I'm sticking with the Moby. If I want something different as she gets bigger I will look into it then.
Diapers- I promise you, I am very educated on Cloth Diapering now if I wasn't before! I think I know everything about the "main" cloth diaper brands, parts of the diapers, pro's and con's, prefolds and covers vs. aio's, what detergents are good and what detergents to stay away from, cheap cloth diapers vs. the more expensive ones, and I even educated myself on cloth wipes, sprays, pail liner wet bags, travel wet bags, doublers, "organic" inserts, "hemp" inserts, washing, drying and stripping techniques...diapers have even haunted my dreams!
So last night I made the diaper decision! (on my own! without anyone's input, just my own research...I'm pretty proud of myself!)

BumGenius it is! I am very excited about next month's BG package order! I am free to dream of them until then! The 4th little potter baby will be able to run around in them as well in the future :)

Speaking of diapers & such, "Middle Sister" will be potty trained very soon! For the past few days, she has been using the potty with very few accidents! She comes and gets me when she needs to go, I also need to keep asking her every 30 minutes or so. She's so cute, she loves using the potty and being "big".  I am happy that I will have only one kid in diapers (besides nap & bedtime) when our littlest sister comes along!

Now, onto Vaccines. Riley  "big sis" is up to date on all of her vaccines. When she turns 3, (next month!) since she is up to date, she won't be getting anything until her 4 year old boosters, if we decide on those.
The last time Adison "middle sis" was vaccinated was at 1 yr old. She will be 2 in less than 2 months, and the doctors are going to have a huge list of vaccines she needs for her 2yr checkup, as well as the ones she has missed. She can have Dtap (tetanus), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella...separately, not lumped together). No chicken pox, no hep. b (or a). She can have Mib (meningitis). And no HPV or Polio shots. Geeze la weeze!
For this baby to come, "little sis", she is not getting anything as an infant, maybe at 6 month's(or older) we'll look into getting the Mib & Dtap.
This stuff is wearing me out! I am sure my views will alter in either direction the more I learn about it all.

Now, my girl's are awake from naps! :)

names and dipes.

I finally have some down time! After 2pm, woohoo.
The girl's just went down for quiet time. I peeked on them a few minutes ago and Riley plugged her tv in and was laying in bed watching cartoons. I'm picking & choosing my battles with that one.

Adison was in her room playing with toys. OH, this morning I moved Adison back into her own room. Since this baby is a girl, she can share with Adison. Riley's room is the smallest, it was actually very hard to fit two beds in there along with anything else.

Adam and I tried to do some name picking last night. We, again, most likely will not have a definite name chosen until she is here. He likes Chandler. For a girl. I like Chandler, but I've always thought of it as a boy name. You know, Chandler on friends. Maybe it will grow on me, plus on all the baby name sites, it comes up as either a female name or unisex.
I like Hadley. But he doesn't. So, this is really a back and forth thing to the end. I'm sure there will be more options thrown into the mix in the next 20 weeks.

So that is little...Chandler/Hadley/Unknown! At 18 & 6. I took this picture with my phone, which is why it is not the best quality. Her legs were up, she looks all cozy. For being 19 weeks along, I do not feel her that much, still!! The most I felt her was one time, when I was 17wks. But since then, I haven't noticed much of anything at all. I suppose that's fine, she is alive & healthy and she is moving, whether I feel it now or not.

While I'm on this break, I am researching cloth diapers.  There are so many things to consider and so many different diapers it's almost confusing! I started cloth diapering with middle sister. I used all fuzzi bunz. I actually had a pretty big stash of 17 fb's. However, they were awful. I mean, it was like a horror story using them. I find it really weird that I had such bad luck with them, because they get great reviews and lots of people love them. They leaked ALL THE TIME. I live 2.6 miles from our church, and I would put my daughter in a fresh diaper, load her in the car, drive straight to church, and by the time I would get her out of the carseat...she'd be soaked (through the diaper). She was a little heavy wetter, but even so...they didn't last even 8 minutes! Yes, I stripped them(about twice a month). No, I did not use harsh detergent on them. Yes, they leaked even when I had two inserts in. It was just an awful experience for me! Plus, they were so bulky my kiddo couldn't wear jeans! Or any kind of "fitted" pants.

I really want to cloth diaper! I just need to find the right diaper! A friend of mine let me use a coolababy aio diaper (the ebay diaper) & I like it allot so far. No pockets, no leaks, no smell, no stain so far. So that is an option, plus they are very cheap. Her baby is just about 2 months old now...so I'm going to wait and see from her on how they hold up in the months to come.

Then I found "green & comfy" diapers. Which use to be Wonderworks diapers. They are cheap, and the pocket ones have good reviews...they look and seem to be just like fuzzi bunz though, so I'm kind of hesitant about them.

I have not looked into bum genius, because my friend uses them and I already know how bulky they are. I have never tried covers and pre folds, fitteds, etc.
Anyone else out there have a favorite diaper? Or diaper advice?

Why I Hate Fuzzi Bunz Cloth Diapers:

-They DO leak! Waterproof material my butt! WE have SIXTEEN of them, and EVERY single one of them leaks...WAY worse than ANY disposable diaper I've ever used.
-The fleece is suppose to keep your baby rash free. Well, this is the THIRD awful rash that my little one has had while using these diapers! It is so bad she is bleeding. (& no, she is not one of those babies who always get rashes, & no it is not a yeast rash!)
-They are so big. No, I do not have a small baby. Which means when I add a thick cloth diaper to her, NOTHING fits her (pants wise) unless its elastic. I end up having to buy her a size bigger, but then the pants are so LONG that I have to roll them up a ton and it just doesnt look good.

Is this really worth it!? Geeze. This leaking has got to stop! Next baby...I will be looking into Bum Genius or something else. I think Fuzzi Bunz may be hit or miss. I have one friend who uses them and loves them. But she also said that she has had a friend who has had a "bad batch" before. Okay, at $18 a pop, I can't afford to buy a bad batch!

They ARE cute though...
